THF COACHES
Taylor Leier
Taylor is the Founder and Owner of The Hockey Formula. Following his retirement from professional hockey in 2025, Taylor founded THF after settling on the South Shore of Boston with the goal of providing players and families with experienced guidance, structure, and development systems throughout their hockey journey.
Taylor built his own career through consistency, determination, and daily habits over an 11-year professional hockey career spanning the NHL, AHL, DEL, and SHL. Drafted in the 4th round (117th overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2012 NHL Draft, Taylor went on to play 613 professional games, including 55 NHL games with the Flyers, while recording 151 professional goals and 360 career points.
Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Taylor played junior hockey with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, where he was drafted 24th overall in 2009, won a WHL Championship in 2013, served as team captain during the 2013–14 season, and represented Team Canada at the 2014 World Junior Championship. He also earned AHL All-Star Game MVP honors in 2017 and served as assistant captain with both the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Rochester Americans.
Today, Taylor brings his professional playing experience, leadership, and understanding of the game into building and leading The Hockey Formula - a development and mentorship system designed to help players maximize their potential both on and off the ice.
By combining on-ice skill development, hockey IQ, professional habits, mentorship, career support, and experienced guidance, The Hockey Formula provides players and families with a structured path designed to give them the best possible opportunity for long-term success throughout their hockey journey.

Our Philosophy
We believe great hockey players aren’t just built on the ice, they’re built on the foundation of their habits, attitude, and work ethic. Things that you can control. Like the way they prepare, practice, think, train, and recover. Every detail matters. That’s why The Hockey Formula goes beyond just skills. We provide players and families with the hockey IQ, on ice training, mentorship, confidence, habits, and guidance needed to turn potential into real performance.
